Excerpts From Illusions

Here are a few picks from the book Illusions by Richard Bach. It's mostly the quotes and pieces of thought-provoking dialogues between the guy called Richard in the book and the main lead - Messiah, who's just another next-door guy but with time and expericence of life that he's seen, he's gained supremacy over his mind, and in the eyes of the world can and has actually done some of the most miracullous things that we ordinarily would think beyond imagination. He credits all suck feats to one and only one thing and that is mind.

The quotes are what Richard comes across as and when he leaves through a book called "Messiah's Handbook -- Reminders for the Advanced Soul", which obviously belongs to Messiah.

Care to read these pieces with some care and thought, as I think they indeed are too good to have missed all these years but at the same time so powerful that they can make up all you have lost and in the end touch you deep down your soul.
Hope you have a nice read..!!

~~ Quotes ~~

Don't be
dismayed at good-byes.
A farewell is necessary before
you can meet again.
And meeting
again, after moments or
lifetimes, is certain for
those who are
friends.

Every person,
all the events of your life
are there because you have
drawn them there.
What you choose
to do with them is
up to you.

The world
is your exercise-book, the pages
on which you do your sums.
It is not reality,
although you can express reality
there if you wish.
You are also
free to write nonsense,
or lies, or to tear
the pages.

You are
never given a wish
without also being given the
power to make it true.
You may
have to work for it,
however.

Your
conscience is
the measure of the
honesty of your selfishness.
Listen to it carefully.

The mark
of your ignorance is the depth
of your belief in injustice
and tragedy.

Dying is like diving into a deep lake on a hot day. There's the shock of that sharp cold change, the pain of it for a second, and then accepting is a swim in reality. But after so many times, even the shock wears off.

~~ Dialogues ~~

All of these pieces are said by Messiah to Richard.

"So just because something is hard, you don't try to do it; Walking was hard at first, but you practiced at it and now you make it look easy."

"you will wonder why some people are unhappy. They are unhappy because they have chosen to be unhappy"

"Look, you don't worry about the crowds. They can't touch you unless you want them to. You're magic, remember: FOOF!-you're invisible, and walk through the doors."

"You don't do anything. Cosmic law, remember? Like attracts like. Just be who you are, calm and clear and bright. Automatically, as we shine who we are, asking ourselves every minute is this what I really want to do, doing it only when we answer yes, automatically that turns away those who have nothing to learn from who we are and attracts those who do, and from whom we have to learn, as well."

"He was going to suck my blood!", said Richard, when a creature bit him.
"Which is what we do to anyone when we tell them we'll be hurt if they don't live our way.",said Messaih.

And now, the big thing....at the last page of the book - "Messiah's Handbook -- Reminders for the Advanced Soul", there was also a quote : "Everything above may be wrong!". Now what do you have to say about it? What would you like to believe..?? Most of the quotes said above or would you like to wrap-up saying the last one was true?

Hmm..I think its the perception difference that could make people go either way on the finishing quote. But frankly speaking, I feel all the quotes were as true as the existence of me and you, and every other person on this earth. They convey the most basic messages in the simplest of words, and even then have the inspiring effect truly accomplished. My favorite among them would be,

"You are
never given a wish
without also being given the
power to make it true.
You may
have to work for it,
however",

which makes me feel I have the power and ability to do all that I wish to.

I would like to add though that the final quote was to make people give in more thoughts into the previous ones, and this actually could be considered as a trick of the author. It's always good to say something, and later try and contradict it, in turn pushing the reader's attention back the quotes, but this time with a greater emphasis, because the reader now reads them more carefully with the purpose of trying to defeat the quotes.

Overall, a funtastic collection of quotes. Keep it up.

well i can't explain but i felt that those ending lines are very necessory and aptly used. i thought that from writer point of view.

if i think logically then i would say both content and ending has equal possibility of being right.

if i think on the basis of my limited knowledge or knowledge i accquired throgh reading various books then my comment will be less concerned about the truth but on meaning of the ending in its context.

by the the word "advanced" , i think writer has pointed to the heirarchy of the truth or to the depth of soul..

somewhere i read that soul n truth are like uncountable layers of petals of a lotus... what seems right now may be wrong in the next heirarchy of truth..
